6,884,300,000 was the number of people in the world last time I checked. Each has a name and a story but for me Pieke Bergmans is definitely a name to remember.
This Dutch designer is definitely unique in every way. they say the sky is the limit, but for Pieke creativity is infinite as she crosses the boundaries of imagination with her work “Design Virus”, where she features 15 types of art work each unique in its own way. She makes the simple complicated and the complicated impossibly simple.
In this issue we’ll feature 3 of her designs, the Light Bulbs, the CHANEL bottle and Mother of Pearl meets Crystal virus.
Who knew the already timeless CHANEL 5 can be even more alluring with a melted bottle? I usually love classics assuming that the definition would be “that of the highest class”, Pieke took the highest to the higher still with what she called CHANEL NO? We say CHANEL YES
The Mother of Pearl meets crystal virus is a little bit hard to define as every time you look at it , it looks somehow different. It simply reflects whatever feeling you have, whether its joy, excitement, sorrow, silence or even creativity itself. Pieke simply broke out all types of usual patterns allowing each person to look at every piece from their own perspective.
The Light Bulb is a story by itself. Having a piece one wouldn’t put anything else in the same room as some things are at their peak elegance just standing alone, not only will they light up a room but will be a signature art piece.
Pieke did a show with Kuwait’s Sheikh Majed Al-Sabah in Miami late 2008 and in Kuwait may 2009. For future news and upcoming work you can visit her website at http://piekebergmans.com/
