Spirit of Ecstasy wears its most exclusive gown on the dusk of its centenary year. Since 6 February this year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has been celebrating the centenary year of the Spirit of Ecstasy, the world’s most recognisable motoring mascot. And as this memorable year moves into its final quarter, the flying lady will emerge in its most exquisite gown during Dubai’s Middle East International Motor Show.

With an estimated value of 900,000 AED ($250,000) and wearing 2,300 diamonds, the ‘Flying Lady’ will be revealed on the 10th of November 2011 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The Diamond Encrusted Spirit of Ecstasy is the result of collaboration between Mouawad and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The international diamond expert and royal jeweller, with over 100 years of its own experience, has produced a unique piece of motoring jewellery befitting the most desired automotive hood ornament in history. The radiant Flying Lady is a testament to two combined centuries of bespoke craftsmanship and exclusivity.

The iconic figurine that embodies the spirit of Rolls-Royce, and graces the front of all Phantom and Ghost models, has been draped in 2,300 round brilliant cut diamonds of the G color VS Clarity type. Three Mouawad master craftsmen spent over 350 hours laying 38.53 carats of diamonds in pavé, creating a timeless homage for an icon of elegance and glamour.

On the occasion of the reveal, James Crichton, Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa said “2011 has been an especially significant year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as we celebrate the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy. The famous Flying Lady which has adorned nearly every Rolls-Royce grille since February 6th 1911 has inspired owners, enthusiasts and everyone involved with Rolls-Royce throughout generations.”

Commenting on the project with Mouawad, “The treatment Mouawad has bestowed on our cherished mascot highlights the importance the Flying Lady holds with Rolls-Royce connoisseurs. The use of diamonds also embodies the strength of the brand as it is now going through an unprecedented period of growth.”

Moreover, Mr. Pascal Mouawad, Co-Guardian of the Mouawad brand stressed on the shared passion for creating ultimate luxury. “Mouawad searches the world for the finest gems to create the highest quality jewellery and Rolls-Royce builds what is known to be the pinnacle of automotive perfection. It’s our shared passion for creating the finest that has pulled us together on this venture.”
