Alpha is the cornerstone of all Tumi collections. Incorporating a legacy of innovation and dynamic design, it’s a modern classic that clearly and definitively demonstrate both Tumi’s iconic style and ingenuity.
For Fall 2010, the Alpha collection celebrates the 35th anniversary of the brand with a collection that exemplifies the forward thinking and superior craftsmanship of Tumi. The collection attributes the iconic use of ballistic nylon and the Tumi Difference, award winning design, quality engineered components, performance and technical innovation. With the recent introduction of color into the collection, this season the palette is cool, calm and subdued. Travel accessories such as zip pouches, laptop covers, net book cases and packing cubes will be offered in slate blue, café and blackberry. The highly praised 20” wheeled International expandable carry on case will also be available in these shades. The Weekender style is re-introduced for fall and takes its place in the world of ballistic nylon. The nylon body takes its cue from the seasonal hues and will be available in slate, blackberry and café. Black leather trim adds the finishing touch. This oversized style is ideal for weekend travel or an accompaniment on extended trips. The injection of color into this core collection demonstrates the stylish and modern approach to Tumi’s authentic use of ballistic nylon.
Expanding the offerings in travel, in classic black ballistic nylon, three new styles will be introduced. In the lightweight category the highly praised Super Leger first introduced in the Voyageur collection will make its debut in Alpha. This semi structured, ultra lightweight wheeled carry on contains all the functionality of traditional packing cases, minus the weight. Also in the carry on category, the expandable International carry on will be offered in a four wheel version. Enhanced mobility and ease of use, the 20”International case is our most diverse carry on style since it satisfies requirements for all airlines worldwide. Finally, for extended trips, an updated large wheeled duffel will gain a new feature allowing it to unzip and split in half. This separate compartment is ideal for the packing of shoes and other bulky items that are best separated from clothing. These additions of original styles are in response to changing trends and standards in the industry and our ability to recognize the evolving needs of the traveler.
In keeping with the directional color story of the season, Tumi’s celebrated Townhouse trunks are reinvented in colored ballistic nylon. The five piece collection of hard cases mimics the cool tone for fall. A café attaché sits atop stacked steamer trunks in beet red and blackberry. The pairing of a rust hat box and slate train case creates a dynamic duo. Handcrafted in Italy with the finest materials, the Townhouse collection is the premiere offering from Tumi and represents the glamorous side of travel.
To mark its second season, Alpha Bravo continues to expand with a greater selection of day bags and the introduction of travel. Contemporary in design and attitude, ballistic nylon is applied in a softer, less structured manner and enhanced with antique pewter hardware and leather detailing. In the day bag category, the selection includes cross bodies, messengers, backpacks and briefs. A slim brief is a new style for business, presenting a modern take on a celebrated classic style. Whether for business or pleasure, each style offers diversity and functionality in use. Available in black or spruce nylon, the collection is urban in attitude infused with classic Tumi design.
Bravo’s defining design details carry over to a complete assortment of packing cases, duffel and satchel styles. Available in black and spruce ballistic nylon, the addition of the travel styles completes the Bravo lifestyle. Nine travel styles ranging from wheeled cases to soft accessories enter the mix. Favored styles from classic Alpha such as the 20”, 22” 24” and wheeled duffel styles will all take on a new look with the stylized bravo attitude. The backpack, a silhouette that has gained much attention features modern amenities with the addition of a retractable handle and wheels. With the addition of these details, this youthful style can appeal to a broader audience with its versatility in use.
Laredo makes a stronger presence for fall with an expanded collection for daytime use. In contrast to core collections, Laredo is an all leather collection. Offered in black and chestnut brown, the use of supple leather presents a more polished, refined statement for daytime and business. Design details include a hand stitched “T” feature on front tabs, comfortable cotton adjustable straps and signature Tumi luggage tags. This ten piece collection includes cross body styles, messengers, briefs, backpack tote and framed duffel. Intelligently organized both inside and out allow for maximum efficiency in use and performance. Modern and sleek, contrasting silver zippers and hardware advance the overall appearance. Rich in texture, appearance and overall use, Laredo defines a new standard in Tumi day bags and business.
Vapor set a new standard in hard sided cases when it launched in fall 2009 with its superlative design, enhanced level of performance and durability, while remaining exceptionally light in weight. Fall 2010 welcomes the introduction of new colors of glacier, blackberry, slate and bronze. The new additions of color join the family of core colors sliver blaze and a jet black. Bronze is an understated but sophisticated neutral with a glossy, striated finish. In keeping with the color story of the season, slate blue and blackberry redefine the otherwise neutral palette. Glacier, a tonal grey pattern, reminiscent of shattered ice exemplifies the innovative and modern attitude of the collection. Vapor cases continue to be offered in three sizes; an International 20” carry on, 25” medium packing case and 29” extended trip. The International 20” carry on is available in both two wheel and four wheels styles while the medium and extended sizes remain four wheel options. The three sizes include lightweight wheels, slimmer aircraft grade aluminum dual tube, patented X-Brace 45 ™handles, and lighter top and side handles, all which contribute to the reduced weights of these bags.
A demonstration of Tumi’s excellence and leadership in design, innovation and technology, the new ultra modern ABS Polycarbonate Alloy collection has been developed for consumers who seek lightweight travel cases with the highest standards of durability and performance. Constructed from a high performance advanced engineered triple layer ABS polycarbonate shell , this material contributes to the superior strength, protection and durability, also allowing for maximum resistance to cold impact cracking. With a bold new design, raised rubber molded bumpers are placed on either side of the front exterior. This stylized feature protects the high gloss finish and reduces the signs of wear. A metallic printed graphic texture, producing a striated effect, is applied to conceal surface scratches which occur with use. Intelligently organized and fully lined, within the spacious interiors certain styles feature removable garment sleeves and tie down straps.
For fall 2010, innovation, design and performance prevail with collections which celebrate the classics and while looking ahead to the future of business and travel.
