Masterpieces for Eternity
The Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar was created for people who have far-reaching ideas and consequently will only rely on a calendar designed to take the long view. The complication incorporated in the Lange 1 meets this requirement effortlessly: not until the year 2100 will its perpetual calendar need to be corrected by one day, and the innovations in its construction set new benchmarks.
To optimise the integration of the calendar into the dial of the Lange 1, with its off-centre composition, the Lange development team placed the month display on a rotating outer ring, for the first time in a wristwatch. Furthermore, all the displays of the perpetual calendar advance in jumps, so that they are clearly legible at all times.

This world first, presented in 2010, included a double-pinion system with bevel gearing, and a complex mechanism which allowed for a perpendicular time display. The technical feat of the movement remains the same, but in this new execution of the lug-shaped watch, the quest for identification to the car has been pushed much further in terms of materials, colours and design.

The last bit of advice a new collector is likely to want to hear is nonetheless important - take your time. The more information a collector possesses, the more likely his acquisitions are to be satisfying, and the more apt they are to be lasting additions to a collection, instead of being quickly resold for a more desirable piece. Art in Regular Motion
Mont Blanc timepieces
To call them merely ‘watches’ is to do them, and the craftsmen who create them, a terrible injustice. It’s impossible to hold their timepieces and to not be awed by the work that has been expended to create such a piece. Ironically, it’s also not possible to truly understand the detailed effort that goes in to the creation of such a rare object. Men’s Passion met an even rarer object, one of Mont Blanc’s expert watchmakers Julien Miribel, who led us a little closer to understanding how it feels to create a watch that could end up selling for a quarter of a million dollars.
