With a limited 218-watch edition of the RICHARD LANGE “Pour le Mérite”, A. Lange & Söhne revives the concept of the uncompromisingly precise timekeeping instrument.
In a world where ‘digital’ is the new buzzword, mechanical watches that boast intricate complications are undoubtedly what make watch connoisseurs tick. Complications are an integral part of the world’s most ultra-luxe watches, and it is generally those housing complications that make it onto collectors’ wish lists more so than timepieces displaying just hours and minutes.
It is one of the smallest departments at Lange: only consisting of six staff members and situated on the ground floor of the historic Lange headquarters. In the focused peace and quiet of this small art studio those six master engravers turn each Lange watch into a truly unique item – by applying a freehand engraving onto the balance cock, which is not even the size of a fingernail.
On 25 October 2016, A. Lange & Söhne presented a special edition of the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE in honey gold. The date is no coincidence. It recalls the presentation of the first Lange collection 22 years ago in the Dresden residential palace – and features a subtle detail of the limited 100-watch edition: on the rotating city ring, Central European Time is represented by Dresden.
